Where does NearbyBuilds' Edmonton construction data come from?
From the “General Building Permits (24uj-dj8v)” dataset published by City of Edmonton on data.edmonton.ca. We have loaded 171,355 issued building permits (2015-01-02 to 2026-07-14) and grouped the significant ones into 3,394 projects. Every page links back to the official record it came from — where our page and the source disagree, the source is right.
How often is the data updated?
The pipeline re-pulls every city on a weekly basis. The data behind this page was last refreshed on 2026-07-15, and the most recent Edmonton record is dated 2026-07-14. The gap between those two dates is the City's own publishing lag, not ours.
Does this include every building permit in Edmonton?
Every permit issued since 2015-01-01 is searchable — all 171,355 of them, including re-roofs, garages and minor renovations. Only the 3,394 major projects get their own page and a dot on the default map. No storey counts and no permit-status lifecycle — every row is already issued, so recency is the only progress signal. The units-added field is empty on roughly a quarter of records, mostly older ones, and about 6% of permits carry no coordinates.
How do I find out what's being built near a specific address in Edmonton?
Type the address into the map search. It is geocoded against the City's own address register, and we return every record within a radius you choose — not just the major projects, but all 171,355 records. You can also browse by neighbourhood from this page.
Is this an official City website?
No. NearbyBuilds is an independent project with no affiliation to City of Edmonton or any municipality. We re-publish open public data in a mapped, searchable form and link to the original for every record. For anything official, go to the City.
